Marena Lai
Designer & Creative Strategist
I’m Marena Lai, a Designer and Creative Strategist.
I’ve been a designer and big thinker my whole life. I was born and raised in New Jersey; graduated from Skidmore College with a dual-degree in Design and Sociology; and received a certification in Web Design from Noble Desktop and several certifications in Design Thinking from IDEO and the University of Virginia.
My work at and in collaboration with The Hive, the innovation lab at the United Nations refugee agency, has been recognized by the likes of Fast Company, named one of the Most Innovative Companies in 2017, and received the 2019 ANA Genius Award.
I've worked for clients around the world, big and small, including Goose Island Brewing Company, Bank of America, InterContinental Hotels Group and the United Nations. I can design cross-culturally, having spent roughly two years as a designer in Shanghai, China. Regardless of who I’m working with or for, I care deeply about a thoughtful process and creating unique experiences.
